TWP Pops Experience: Moving Forward

The Pop Experience 2021: Moving Forward

The Washington Township High School Choir’s 2021 Pops Concert, “Moving Forward,” was video-streamed home to audiences on May 8-10. You can check it out on our Event Production YouTube channel!

DFX provided lighting, staging, and video equipment, as well as expert lighting design and production management to program, film, and edit the performance using multiple camera views.

In addition to performances by the WTHS Mixed Chorus, Treble Chorus, and Chorale, audiences enjoyed songs by a cappella groups Dynamics and Momentum plus several solo acts. The concert’s 25 songs include hits by Queen, Coldplay, Mariah Carey, Billie Eilish, and more.

Due to COVID restrictions and technical considerations, TWP Choir filmed the show over the course of several nights in the WTHS Investors Bank Performing Arts Center. Senior and soloist parents were able to attend portions of the filming, to enjoy their children’s performances live on stage.

Supporting pediatric cancer patients with a night of virtual entertainment:

The Frances Foundation for Kids Fighting Cancer decided to have a virtual gala this year. They sought our assistance in creating a live stream including a multi-camera feed, video presentations, entertainment, and calls to action / fundraising.

The answer was a hybrid event, featuring a ballroom-turned-studio supporting the virtual show. We provided some simple lighting touches to evenly light presenters and enhance the appearance of the staged space. Our main work was supplying speakers, video cameras, and other equipment, as well as controlling every aspect of the live stream’s content.

An Ideal Hybrid Presentation

Edison Partners’ held their annual meeting in a hybrid format. They wanted to host a small and socially distanced audience in the ballroom while most guests tuned in online.

We provided lighting, drapery, displays, microphones, and a sound system for their meeting. We worked with their video team to produce a crisp live stream and share video with guests in the room.

They may have had their own video team, but we can also provide cameras and all of the technical expertise needed for a seamless meeting experience.

Creating an engaging meeting:

We frequently collaborate with other event providers to support their live productions. For this event, we supplied a range of lighting and audiovisual services, including a large dual projection system.

The LED uplights not only work to beautify the space- they also serves a practical purpose on camera! Adding a splash of color behind a lounge setup like this helps to create depth and dimension for live video feeds.
